The owner of a Tesla Model 3 Performance from the city of Mefalsim in Israel escaped an attack by Hamas fighters. He mainly owed this to his car, according to the Israeli news site ‘Walla’.

Minutes after Hamas forces from the nearby Gaza Strip entered the Otaf settlements, a man jumped into his Tesla. The kibbutz resident was driving to a meeting point when a pickup truck full of Hamas fighters cut him off and opened fire.
Kalashnikovs
The Hamas militants fired at the Tesla at close range with their Kalashnikovs, specifically targeting the front and back of his car. “They didn’t realize it was an electric vehicle, so they shot at the front of the car, hoping to hit the engine,” the driver said. “The rear was also fired upon in an attempt to explode the fuel tank, but of course it wasn’t there either.”
Four wheel drive
“Then they shot at the tires and chased me. I stepped on the accelerator, they kept chasing me.” Although the tires were flat, the Tesla managed to stay on the road – thanks to its four-wheel drive. The driver realized he was seriously injured, so he pressed the accelerator a little harder to reach the hospital, at speeds he said reached up to 110 miles per hour.
Blood on and around the driver’s seat
The man managed to escape. Although he suffered head and hand injuries, he is grateful he was in his Tesla at the time of the attack. Judging from photos of the car shared on social media, it seems a miracle that it is still alive: the body is riddled with bullet holes and there is a lot of blood on and around the driver’s seat.

Another Tesla
Dozens of bullets reportedly hit the car. Interestingly, the Tesla Model 3 not only saved the man’s life but also helped his wife find out his whereabouts through a notification on the Tesla app. “I got bullets in my legs and hand, and one in my skull,” the driver said. “But the car kept moving. It still drives when you press the accelerator, but it seems to me that I still have to think about my next car.” That will be – not surprisingly – another Tesla.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to X following the incident this weekend with: “Glad he made it.”
