Pictures from Reuters showed fuel trucks flying the United Nations flag heading to the Kerem Shalom crossing on the border between Egypt, the Gaza Strip, and Israel.
On the other hand, dozens of trucks carrying humanitarian aid are waiting on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing for permission to enter the Gaza Strip.
The crossing is closed from the Palestinian side, after it was subjected to Israeli air strikes that prevented it from operating, in the midst of the violent attacks on the Gaza Strip that have been ongoing for more than a week.
Egypt received tons of humanitarian aid from several countries and organizations over the past few days, in preparation for its transfer to the Gaza Strip.
On Monday morning, Al-Arish Airport, close to the crossing, received an aid plane provided by the World Food Programme, carrying 32 tons of food supplies and two field tents to support the residents of Gaza.
It is the ninth aid plane to arrive at Al-Arish Airport during the last four days, intended to provide relief to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
If the aid is transferred into Gaza, it will be the first time since the outbreak of fighting that Israel allows the transfer of aid into the Strip.
