The Genesis brand announced on the 16th that it successfully completed the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) ‘2023 Genesis Championship’ held at ‘Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea’ in Songdo, Incheon from the 12th to the 15th of this month.
The winner of this year’s tournament was Sanghyun Park, who recorded a final total of 17 under par and 271 strokes in the fourth round. Park Sang-hyun played in the first overtime with Lim Seong-jae and Bae Yong-jun, and then won the championship after the second overtime with Bae Yong-jun.
Sanghyun Park became the owner of a prize money of 300 million won and a Genesis GV80 Coupe. In addition, he also qualified to participate in the ‘2024 Genesis Scottish Open’ held next year.
Player Park Sang-hyun said, “I was able to feel Genesis’ delicate consideration throughout the round, and I think this led to my good condition, which allowed me to take first place.” He added, “I was nervous throughout the game because it was the last game of the season with qualifications for overseas competitions at stake, but I did it in the end.” Expressed the joy of victory.
Additionally, Garam Jeon, who recorded the first hole-in-one of the tournament on the 17th hole in the third round of the tournament, received a GV70 electric model, and caddy Junho Jeong received a GV60.
In the ‘2023 Genesis Championship’, the largest tournament on the KPGA Korean Tour, a large number of top players, including all previous winners, participated and competed. In particular, Seongjae Lim, who won a gold medal in the team event and a silver medal in the individual event at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, also participated and attracted the attention of golf fans. The competition was held with higher interest than usual, and over 16,000 galleries visited the site over four days to cheer on the players.
Genesis prepared this competition with a variety of components under the concept of ‘Road to Excellence’.
Above all, they did not spare any support for the participating players and caddies. △We helped players focus solely on the game by providing tour vans and hotel accommodations for all players and providing multi-brand practice balls in the driving range. △Providing separate trophies for the winning players’ caddies, so that players and caddies can participate during the competition. Genesis’ unique culture of respecting caddies was continued through the ‘Players and Caddies Lounge’ where you can relax.
Genesis also introduced various programs for golf fans. By operating an F&B zone through collaboration with food and beverage establishments, galleries can enjoy Genesis’ unique brand experience, and customers who watched the game at the newly built ‘Championship Lounge’ and ‘Genesis Suite’ near the 18th hole green were given the ‘Owner’ Special benefits were provided, including the opportunity to win the ‘Lary Observer’ lottery.
In addition, the latest Genesis major models, including the recently announced GV80 and GV80 Coupe, the Magma-colored GV80 Coupe Concept, and the G70 Shooting Brake, were displayed throughout the stadium, attracting the attention of visitors.
Meanwhile, Kim Jae-min, who participated as a caddy for Kim Young-soo, the winner of the previous year’s competition, attracted attention by participating as a player in this year’s Genesis Championship. The two players have shown a good example of coexistence between players and caddies by participating in this year’s ‘2023 Genesis Invitational’ and DP World Tour games together.
“The Genesis Championship focuses on honoring players and caddies while allowing them to display their skills to the fullest,” said Song Min-gyu, vice president of Genesis Business Division. “We will strengthen the brand’s global status by providing Genesis’ unique experience to stakeholders,” he said.
Since the launch of the brand, Genesis has been actively sponsoring golf at home and abroad.
Genesis this year became the title sponsor of the ‘2023 Genesis Scottish Open’ held in Scotland, UK and the ‘2023 Genesis Invitational’ held in California, USA. It plans to participate as an official vehicle sponsor in next year’s ‘2024 Presidents Cup’ and ‘2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship’.
In addition, we plan to provide customers with Genesis’ unique brand experience by sponsoring various domestic and international golf competitions, including the ‘2024 Genesis Invitational’ scheduled to be held in February next year.
