Although both football legends are in the relegation stage, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi continue competing in various areassuch as earnings among footballers.
The economic magazine Forbes listed the footballers who accumulate the most earnings in 2023which includes both the salary their teams pay them and other income such as advertising.
Cristiano Ronaldo, at 38 years old and with a considerable level at Al Nassr, occupies first place with total earnings of up to $260 million dollars.

Although the Argentine’s income increased due to the not inconsiderable contract that David Beckham and the other owners of Inter Miami put on the table, added to the exclusivity with Apple TV, what CR7 earns is almost double economically speaking.
The top-3 is completed by Neymar Jr., who left Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for this season on his way to the Saudi Arabian league to play with Al Hilal.
The Brazilian forward, a machine to generate income for himself and the clubs where he plays, at 31 years old can enjoy generating $112 million dollars.
Called to captain the new generation of footballers, including winning the Ballon d’Or, Frenchman Kylian Mbappé is currently the highest paid footballer in Europe but not in the world.
The income of the PSG star reaches $110 million dollars, closely followed by his compatriot Karim Benzema ($106 million dollars), who like other established veterans, reached the Saudi league this season and left Real Madrid after more than 10 seasons.
The list is completed by:
Erling Haaland (Manchester City): $58 million Mohamed Salah (Liverpool): $53 million Sadio Mané (Al Nassr): $52 million Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City): $39 million Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) : $36 million dollars
In its publication, Forbes highlights that in the top-10 of the highest-paid soccer players in the world, four migrated to Saudi Arabia accepting the astronomical financial figures that they were offered there.
“The scandalous Saudi contracts have readjusted the football universe this year,” explains the business magazine.
It is also highlighted that Cristiano Ronaldo is once again at the top of the list, the sixth time since 2014 that he is number 1.
