Israel Restores Water Supply to Southern Gaza Strip Amid Conflict with Hamas

Israel has restored water supplies to the southern Gaza Strip for the first time since the start of the war with Hamas. This was announced by US Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, referring to representatives of Jerusalem.

“Today I was in contact with my Israeli colleagues. They told me in the last hour that they have restored water supply to the southern Gaza Strip,” Sullivan told CNN. He noted that the issue of water supply in Gaza has been at the center of discussions over the past few days.

The escalation of the military conflict between Israel and Palestine began on October 7. Israeli authorities recommended that citizens stock up on food, water and medicine to last them 72 hours in bomb shelters. After this the country turned off all pipelines, which carried water to the Gaza Strip, and also stopped the supply of electricity. The representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric reported that the Gaza Strip doesn’t arrive humanitarian aid, so it is impossible to get a drop of water there, and hospitals only receive electricity for a few hours a day.
