The Indonesian U-17 National Team Faces Defeat in Training Camp in Germany

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesian U-17 National Team lost with a landslide score of 0-3 to Mainz U-19 in the fifth trial match during the training camp in Germany in preparation for the U-17 World Cup, Saturday (14/10/ 2023). Entering the second half, the U-17 national team conceded a quick goal in the 47th minute through an accurate kick from the opponent. Score 3-0 for the opposing team’s advantage.

After that, a quick response was shown by the U-17 national team who launched several attacks from various sides at the direction of the coach. However, it still failed over and over again.

In the 70th minute, Bima Sakti entered a number of players at once to make a change in strategy and significant changes were immediately visible because several new players repeatedly launched dangerous attacks.

However, these attacks still failed to break through the opponent’s goal. Until the second half was over, the U-17 national team had to recognize the superiority of Mainz U-19.

“Thank God, we have implemented the strategy well, but the results obtained were less than optimal,” said Arkhan Kaka after the match.

This defeat was the third suffered by the U-17 national team in a trial match during their training camp in Germany in preparation for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Previously, the U-17 national team lost 0-1 to TSV Meerbusch U-17 and was defeated by Eintracht Frankfurt U-19 with a score of 0-3.

Meanwhile, the other two matches ended in victory, namely winning with a score of 1-0 against SC Paderborn U-17 and U-19 and 2-1 when they beat VFL Osnabruerck U-19.

“We have to evaluate and be better because our opponents are above us, but that is not an excuse. We have to train and work hard to be better,” stressed Arkhan.
