Prada announced, on the 4th, a partnership with space equipment manufacturer Axiom Space to design the astronauts’ costumes for NASA’s next lunar mission.

Artemis III, which should take place in 2025, will have the first crew to land on the Moon since Apollo 17, in 1972.

The Italian brand’s engineers will work with Axiom, “developing solutions for materials and design features to protect against the unique challenge of space and the lunar environment”, according to the statement.

While the Artemis missions primarily aim to explore our natural satellite, NASA’s long-term goals are even more ambitious. In the future, the agency hopes the program will help develop the astronomical science that will enable human exploration of Mars.

The agency states that lunar missions offer a perfect opportunity to test tools, equipment and technologies that could be useful on a manned trip to the red planet.
