Lamine Yamal (16) has had an almost meteoric rise at FC Barcelona so far. According to one of his coaches, this run will only end when the youngster has reached the top of the world.
Rafa Marquez (44) coached Yamal in the Azulgrana second team. He then followed how the striker was promoted to the professional squad at the beginning of the year. There he immediately became the youngest player to ever appear in the Primera Division for his club.
And that’s not all. Yamal also scored for the Spanish national team in the European Championship qualifier against Georgia in September to make it 7-1, thereby securing a place in the history books as the youngest goalscorer in Furia Roja’s history.
Barça coach: “Ronaldinho, Messi… Lamine can be next”
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Marquez was not surprised by Yamal’s impressive performances.

“He belongs to a group of gifted boys with innate talent who, no matter how old they are, can compete in any category and make a difference,” explained the former FC Barcelona professional.
Yamal doesn’t have to fear being compared to other Catalan club idols. “Ronaldinho, Messi… Lamine can be next. He has all the qualities,” assured Marquez, but still issued a warning: “Of course we have to take care of his development because he is still a child.”
