Highlights of the 23rd Pays de l’Aveyron Market in Paris: Aveyron Youth, Activities, and Producers

On the weekend of October 7 and 8, tens of thousands of Parisians were able to enjoy great activities and well-stocked stalls with producers from our department.

Aveyron youth and Paris” was the theme of this 23rd Pays de l’Aveyron market. It is still at the foot of Oustal, rue de l’Aubrac, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris that the producers of Rouergue met given appointments. The district which saw more than a thousand students or young workers from Aveyron flock to settle there, was inevitably influenced by the occupants of these apartments. It is to these young people that the National Federation of the Amicales Aveyronnaises wanted to pay tribute.

Very visible with their unmissable red polo shirts, the Rabalaïres, the Youth Commission association distribute the Zine. The Federation magazine retraces its year. There we find the competition for the highest thread of aligot, with the Montmartre market, the news of the friendly and even an interview with Sebastien Bras. Julien Puech has been representing these young Aveyron residents on the market for more than fifteen years. The president of the Rabalaïres is delighted to see new, very active members joining them. Easier integration for newcomers to the capital. Among these young people Hugo the Saint-affricin and Marie. The young Sévéragaise, a lawyer at Clichy town hall, joined Oustal two years ago. Fifteen days have passed since the Night of Rouergue, a dancing evening on a barge at the foot of Notre-Dame. One of the many events that the association organizes: a quine, an ugly sweater competition or even love is in the farçou, to find the one of your heart without going through Karine Le Marchand.

70 volunteers needed

From Friday, local regulars, equipped with their finest shopping carts, were able to stock up before the aisles were crowded: a fouace, snails, or even a piece of Aubrac meat. The next day, in front of Lieutenant-Colonel Jean Lamarque and Chief Warrant Officer Philippe Viala, representing Colonel Thomas Riou of the 13th DBLE, the traditional red and yellow inauguration ribbon was cut at Laguiole. From then on, the market was quickly taken by storm, despite the closure of the main metro station all weekend. Last year 60,000 Parisians strolled through the aisles. For this edition an observation was carried out with a rejuvenation of the public. And for the first time, due to the Rugby World Cup, Irish supporters were tempted by Aubrac beer and aligot-sausage, with some of their Scottish neighbors.

All a cheese

Rémy, Paul and Simon from Ferme Seguin in Séverac, had a visit from a large number of regulars. The three young men cherish this meeting with an atypical atmosphere. Like last year, the tomme is selling out! The bleu cheese awarded at the Mondial du fromage a month ago and the pitchounet, made from raw sheep’s milk, are also enjoying some success: “Everyone who comes to taste leaves with a piece, they like everything that is distinctive.” A little further on, it is the baptism of Fromabon, which is exhibiting its Larzac products for the first time. Johan and his sister Julie run the stand with Lou, a law student at the Sorbonne and originally from Saint-André de-Vézines. Sheep’s lace is Parisians’ favorite, even if mieja mieja, gold medalist at the 2022 departmental competition, and far aqui with truffles are finding a good place in their baskets. Products that locals can find in Nanterre, Levallois-Perret and Houilles, several days of the week. The appointment has already been made for next year “there is no reason !”.

Diversity

With 28 degrees on Sunday, we had to hydrate. Meet at the Domaine du Vieux Noyer stand with Ludovic Bouviala “there is a strong demand for white, all the stock is gone. This is surely linked to the weather. It is true that last year, it was red wine with milder temperatures that took the advantage. A little further on at the book fair Juan Costumero, from the Guerillos and Reconquistas Association, dedicates his books on the subject as well as on the history of Decazeville. A table further away, “we think we know her but ultimately we don’t know her that well”, it was while writing the biography of Emma Calvé that Laeticia Bex really discovered the singer’s story. Still in the culture of our valley, Laurent Tranier of Éditions Tout Latitude presents the tales and legends of the Gorges du Tarn, by Jacques Godfrain and Jean Poujol. Finally we could have ended this walk with Aubrac chocolate but that’s with the reasons “South Aveyron sheep that customers love” textiles from the Fripouille Bleue de Rodez that we invite you to meet for the next edition: October 11, 12, and 13, 2024.
