Oct 14, 2023 at 11:49 p.m

The airport of Aleppo in Syria was again targeted on Saturday, probably by an Israeli airstrike. Aleppo airport and the airport in the Syrian capital Damascus were also bombarded on Thursday, forcing them to close in the following days.

“An Israeli airstrike from the direction of the sea hit Aleppo airport,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told the AFP news agency. The Syrian state news agency SANA reports that the consequences for the airport of the latest “Israeli aggression” are being assessed.

The Israeli military said on Thursday it would bomb the airports in response to shelling from the Golan Heights. This Syrian territory was annexed by Israel in 1981 and has since been a point of contention between Syria and Israel. The Shia movement Hezbollah is also active in Syria. Israel was also bombarded with at least two rockets from Syrian territory on Saturday.
