The solar eclipse was visible in several countries, including the United States and Mexico. The American space agency NASA reported on the solar eclipse via livestream. At first there was little to see on that stream, because it was cloudy above Oregon. The solar eclipse was only visible on the livestream after an hour.
In Albuquerque, New Mexico, viewers had better luck. The air was clear and so the tens of thousands of spectators could thoroughly enjoy the natural phenomenon. The organization had distributed 80,000 pairs of protective glasses.
Ring of Fire
The eclipse coincided with a large hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque. Owners of the balloons also worked together to create a ‘ring of fire’ with the burners.
The path in which the sun was most eclipsed in America ran over states such as California and Texas and via the Gulf of Mexico towards Colombia and Brazil. The shadow on Earth is clearly visible in an animation from NASA.
Another solar eclipse will be visible in North and South America in April. It then starts in Mexico and moves in the opposite direction over the same regions. This eclipse, like today’s, will not be visible in our country.
