Director Ahmed Tharwat announced his recovery from Miller Fisher’s autoimmune disease after a long treatment journey.
Tharwat narrated that the whole thing happened in just half an hour, saying that the first time he felt ill was during work, saying: “Suddenly I coughed up blood…then I felt unbalanced, and was no longer able to walk on the ground.” The second time was in the car. With his fiancée, then he suddenly felt that “my leg went numb” and he was heading home to rest, but his fiancée insisted that he go to the hospital.
Ahmed Tharwat pointed out in his interview with the journalist Mona El Shazly that the developments happened very quickly even though he went to the hospital conscious: “Three days before I became ill, I was working and had never suffered any fatigue before or taken medications, and I entered the hospital on my feet, but the disease completely infected me. “It was completely relaxing the eye nerve.”
Tharwat confirmed that he did not understand the nature of this disease at first and did not receive the correct diagnosis because it was a rare disease. The doctors in the hospital believed that he had a stroke until they eventually discovered that he had an immune disease called “Miller Fisher Syndrome,” which caused his inability to move.
