The Japanese company Sony will launch on the market, starting next December, a new special controller for PlayStation devices designed to make playing easier for people with disabilities, according to what the company announced on its website, on Saturday.
When launched, the new console contains large buttons arranged in a circle, in addition to a joystick.
Two-thirds of players with disabilities face difficulties or problems in playing, while 40 percent of them bought video games that they were unable to use because of the difficulty, according to a report issued in 2021 by the “Scope” association, which calls for achieving equality for people with disabilities in Britain, but major studios and companies… The publisher or developer has now begun to make games more accessible to people with disabilities.
Alvin Daniel, project manager at Sony, says: “We wanted the player not to bear the issue of adapting to the console, but rather for the console to be adapted to him,” noting that this task was not easy because there are no two people who face a disability in the same way.
