Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll freaks out at the Qatar Grand Prix. He gets off lightly.
Paris – Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll has received a written warning from the world association FIA for his outburst of anger at the Grand Prix in Qatar. The Aston Martin driver was reminded that he had to adhere to the code of ethics and the guidelines of conduct, the FIA said. Stroll apologized for his actions.
The Canadian lost his composure during qualifying for the race in Qatar. First he threw his steering wheel out of the car after his early exit, and shortly afterwards he pushed his physiotherapist in front of the camera. During the TV interview, which is mandatory for all drivers, he was in a bad mood, only answered with a few words and then just moved on.
After the main race, in which he slipped out of the points due to a time penalty, Stroll described the track stewards as clueless. The 24-year-old has been in a sporting slump for months and has no chance in the team’s internal duel with veteran Fernando Alonso (42). His replacement at Aston Martin is still considered unlikely because his father Lawrence Stroll is the owner of the racing team. dpa
