A man with the initials JJA (45) is suspected of killing his neighbor, RAS (52). JJA is suspected of strangling RAS to death over gaming.
The murder allegedly occurred on Jalan Masjid Al Ittihad, Pondok Terong, Depok, West Java, Thursday (12/10/2023). Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Metro Police DepokKompol Hadi Kristanto, said the murder occurred after JJA asked the victim’s nephew, IR, to download a game on his son’s cellphone.
“Witness IR (the victim’s nephew) played with the perpetrator’s child, then the perpetrator asked the witness to download the game on his cellphone, but he didn’t give it because it took up a large quota,” said Hadi in his written statement.

JJA allegedly became angry and approached IR at his house. JJA initially strangled the victim’s nephew. However, RAS pushed him aside and in the end the perpetrator strangled RAS.
“A few moments later the perpetrator returned to IR’s house while dragging (his child) and when he was about to strangle IR, the RAS victim pushed him away. Then the perpetrator turned around to strangle the victim while he was pressed against the wall and the victim gasped and then the victim fell,” he said.
The victim then became unconscious and was rushed to hospital. After being treated by the medical team, RAS was declared dead in the early hours of the morning.
“Next, the victim was taken to Hermina Depok Hospital and arrived at Hermina Depok Hospital at 00.15 WIB, then medical treatment was carried out by the emergency room doctor and he was declared dead at 00.45 WIB,” he concluded.
