Former President Lech Walesa warns of potential civil war in Poland over parliamentary elections

Poland faces a civil war over parliamentary elections, former President Lech Walesa said in interview French magazine Point.

“The situation is serious. I do not exclude the risk of civil war in Poland. Ultimately, people will take to the streets in even greater numbers. I’m even afraid that they will use weapons,” he warned.

According to the ex-president, “such a rebellion” is possible not only in Poland.

Parliamentary elections in the republic will take place on October 15. The main competition for the ruling PiS party, which has held the leading position since 2015, is the “Civic Coalition” led by the former President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
