Maarten van Rossem is still not a big fan of Today Inside. The jury member of De Slimste Mens writes in his new book, called Maarten, that he does not think highly of René van der Gijp in particular.
“If you ask me for my opinion of René van der Gijp, I will say: I think he’s a bastard,” he quotes. Mediacourant from Van Rossem’s new book. He thinks the program is of ‘relatively low level’. “But it is well organised. Wilfred Genee is not backward and can do much better, as you can see from his radio programs, but as a talk show presenter he knows exactly which buttons to press.”

Van Rossem also has no problem with Johan Derksen. “Derksen is not stupid, has nice interests and, in my opinion, he could do better, but he allows himself to be sucked in by the manliness of that psychopath Gijp: he is purely there for daily entertainment.” Van Rossem was a guest twice on Today Inside, but Van der Gijp was not present the first time. He liked that broadcast a lot better.
“The first time I had a very nice conversation. Gijp was not there then. He appears to be manic depressive and was in his depressive period at the time,” said the historian.
