Neymar Hit with Popcorn at Brazil vs. Venezuela Match in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

Jakarta

Neymar experienced an unpleasant incident Brazil matched by Venezuela in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. Neymar was thrown a packet of popcorn by the crowd.

Brazil hosts Venezuela at the Pantanal Arena in the 2026 World Cup Qualification match in the CONMEBOL zone, Friday (13/10) morning WIB. The Samba team was balanced with a score of 1-1.

Brazil took the lead through Gabriel Magalhaes’ goal in the 50th minute. Brazil’s victory was shattered five minutes before the end of the match after Venezuela scored a goal through Eduard Bello.

Neymar played the full game in this match. While walking towards the stadium corridor, the Al Hilal player was thrown a packet of popcorn by the audience.

The throw hit Neymar’s head. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player appeared angry, shouting and pointing at the crowd before being calmed down by Brazilian coach Fernando Diniz.

“I completely disagree. Swearing and cheering is fine. Throwing a bag of popcorn doesn’t do anyone any good,” said Diniz as reported by ESPN.

“It’s disrespectful to those who come to play and try to do the best they can.”

With this draw, Brazil is now in second place in the 2026 World Cup Qualification standings in the CONMEBOL zone. Selecao collected seven points from three matches, two points behind Argentina.
