The evaluations in third and sixth grade as well as the provincial mathematics test in grade 9 represent the proportion of schoolchildren having demonstrated in-depth or good understanding (levels 3 and 4) in the concept evaluated, namely reading, writing and mathematics. For the Provincial Language Proficiency Test (OSSLT) in grade 10, this is the proportion of students who passed the assessment.
For the 2022-2023 school year, students from the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) dominate, among other things, for reading in 3rd grade with 89%, far surpassing the provincial average (82%); as well as in writing in 6th grade (89%), the highest result in the province. The organization also stands out with the proportion of its 9th grade students having obtained an above average result in mathematics (70%). This is ten points more than the Ontario average.
Students from the Eastern Ontario Public School Board (CEPEO) finished first in the federal capital region for 3rd year mathematics (74%).
In reading for 6th grade (between 96% and 98%) as well as for the OSSLT (93% and 94%) the three school boards in the region, including the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO ), have almost equal results.
Mathematics in sixth year seems an Achilles heel for all students since the results vary between 49% at the CSDCEO and 59% at the CECCE as well as at the CEPEO. In the last two cases, these data are nevertheless higher than the provincial average (55%).
Students in the French-speaking network once again perform better than their peers in the English-speaking sector in Ottawa, with the capital’s two English-language school boards (Catholic and public) falling behind in certain areas by up to a dozen points. .
In the majority of cases, the region’s French-speaking school boards saw their results improve compared to last year. In 9th grade mathematics, the CECCE, for example, jumped by eight points, while the CEPEO advanced by five points in mathematics, both in 3rd and 6th grade.
