Nye Veier sent out a press release on Friday morning.
In it, the state company writes that national highway 13 is an important main road in Vestland, both for business and passenger transport.
– With the works here, we are reducing risk in a known landslide-prone area. It provides both increased traffic safety and reduces the chance of a closed national road as a result of falling rocks, says development director Espen Almlid in Nye Veier in a press release.
The contract work includes a turnkey contract for the design and construction of around 1,200 meters of new national highway 13, including a new pedestrian and cycle path and avalanche protection.
The work will be carried out between Djupevik and the Kvitur tunnel in Ullensvang municipality in Vestland.
Nye Veier aims to sign a contract with the selected general contractor after the summer of 2024.
Closed a number of times
During the summer, national highway 13 was closed several times due to landslides.
Among other things, the road was closed for several days after a landslide on 12 July.
It was only about a week since the last time the same thing happened. Then it collapsed from the mountainside on the opposite side of the road, and the road was closed for two days.
