IOC Suspends Russian Olympic Committee for Violating Olympic Rules

Lausanne (Switzerland): The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has suspended the Russian Olympic Committee for violating Olympic rules. The action is to illegally include sports committees in four regions of eastern Ukraine into the Russian committee.

The decision was taken by the Executive Board of the IOC on Thursday. With this, Russian athletes will not be able to compete under the Russian flag in international competitions, including next year’s Paris Olympics.

The IOC said the Russian Olympic Committee’s move to include regional sports organizations under the authority of Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) in its committee was an intrusion into the integrity of the Ukrainian Olympic Committee. said spokesman Mark Adams.
