Medina Health Council Faces Backlash for Closing Health Centers in Villages

The leak of the decision to close 3 health centers in the villages of Al-Radaya, Al-Fareesh, and Al-Jafr, due to the poor and dilapidated buildings and the lack of an alternative to them, prompted the people to complain about the decision and its consequences, for fear of the suffering of family members moving from the village to the city, in search of treatment and health follow-up, especially for the elderly and children in order to Vaccinations, while the centers are currently working, and providing services to families. However, the news of the closure aroused fear among the people, given the lack of an alternative to provide health services to them.

Facing demand

The official spokesman for the Medina Health Cluster, Abdul Rahman Hamouda, told Al-Watan that the search for alternative centers to the primary health care centers in “Al-Jafr, Al-Fareesh, and Al-Radaya” comes because these centers lack the minimum security and safety requirements approved by the relevant authorities, in order to preserve the safety of the patients, noting that In light of the leadership’s directives to improve the level of health services and develop them in accordance with the aspirations compatible with the National Transformation Program in the health sector, one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030, the health cluster in Medina put out several advertisements, to search for alternative rented buildings for these centers that meet safety requirements, to serve the people. However, these competitions have not been submitted to date.

Hamouda added that the Medina Health Caucus, in coordination with the Emirate of the Medina region, seeks to meet the increasing demand for health services in the Medina region, and to provide all capabilities to the people of the villages, centers and governorates of the region, by searching for the establishment of buildings for health centers in those locations in partnership with the sector.
