The management of the English club Chelsea has made Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, the Napoli striker and top scorer in the Italian League last season, a priority to sign him during the upcoming winter transfer period.
Chelsea is trying to exploit the crisis that broke out between Napoli and Osimhen’s agent after posting offensive videos of the player through the club’s official account on the TikTok application.
Osimhen had moved to Napoli in the 2020 season in a deal that cost the Italian club 70 million euros, and his contract runs until the summer of 2025.
It is worth noting that the marketing value of the Nigerian striker currently amounts to 120 million euros – according to the Transfermarkt website – and Chelsea will have to enter a race to obtain Osimhen’s services with the English clubs Tottenham and Manchester United, and the French club Paris Saint-Germain, in light of reports that indicated that Napoli will ask for an amount that does not exceed Less than 150 million euros.
A major crisis broke out between Napoli and Osimhen, due to the club’s official account publishing on TikTok a clip mocking its player after missing a penalty kick, which caused the striker’s anger, who responded by deleting pictures of himself wearing the Italian club’s shirt from his Instagram account.
The club retracted and deleted all the offensive videos, and the administration announced the dismissal of the team responsible for the club’s social media accounts, which was accepted by Osimhen, who subsequently issued a statement announcing the end of the crisis.
