The law says enough to illegal parking. And it also applies to scooters – Autoruote4x4.com – iStock.com
Enough of illegal parking in cities: from now on even scooters will no longer be allowed on the pavements.
It is often possible to notice that on many pavements, this often happens in large cities, where the sidewalks are full of scooters or motorbikes. All of us, motorcyclists or scooter ridersfor obvious reasons of convenience, we often park on the pavement.
The lack of available places and the fact that they are always occupied by cars does not help, but rather worsens the situation and requires extreme solutions.
However, the question we perhaps don’t ask ourselves is: Is it possible to park on the sidewalk? Are there any cases in which such parking is permitted?
In this regard, no one can give us a certain answer other than the Traffic Laws.
Parking on the pavement according to the Highway Code
The code in this regard is very clear, in fact theart. 158 comma 1h states verbatim: “stopping and parking are prohibited on the sidewalks, unless otherwise indicated”. As can be well seen, the rule is constructed in a very generic way and does not specify a type of vehicle, since the literal interpretation must be understood in a broad sense, i.e. the standard is aimed at any type of vehicle.
However, the law specifically indicates that both parking and stopping are prohibited. From old memories that will certainly remain in our minds, having attended a course to obtain a driving license, we remember well that stopping and stopping are two distinct and separate things. This means that on the pavement, not only is parking (long duration) not permitted, but not even stopping, and therefore short duration.

Are there any cases where curbside parking is permitted?
Not being able to choose for ourselves whether and when to park, and therefore stop or stop on a sidewalk with your vehicle, we must always refer to the Highway Code to avoid incurring heavy fines. In fact, theart. 158 comma 1 at the end he expressly states: “save different reporting”. With this phrase that we could define as “open doors”, the code wanted to leave of regulatory spaces in order to create hypotheses in which parking on the sidewalk can be made possible.
This is possible because, those specific points will be there specific signage, which means that in the presence of these signals it is possible to stop and park your vehicle. This therefore represents the only case in which parking is Stopping any vehicle is permitted on the sidewalkand consequently the only way to be able to leave your vehicle without the fear of coming back to get it and finding a heavy fine for a parking ban.
