In Ufa, October 11 is celebrated as the Day of the Republic of Bashkortostan. In honor of this, the regional authorities invited leading Russian figure skaters to the local ice palace. Mark Kondratyuk and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva performed short programs this season, Alexandra Stepanova/Ivan Bukin – with rhythm dance, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov gently rolled to “I’m not there” Dmitry Aliyev and Anna Shcherbakova remembered the performances from the tournament of show programs, and Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky rocked out to Sergei Lazarev.
Alina Zagitova – the only one who took to the ice with a new number. The 2018 Olympic champion performed in a transparent black dress with rhinestones – a bright and revealing outfit. Zagitova skated to the song I Feel Like I’m Drowning by Two Feet. The figure skater, who has not competed for almost 4 years, tried to perform a triple flip and fell. But Zagitova managed to show a daring program.
Zagitova and Shcherbakova turned out to be the most popular skaters at the opening ceremony in Ufa. Alina was given a huge bear, and Anna stayed in the arena after the show to sign autographs, despite the fact that the athletes had a plane to Moscow in the evening.
It’s funny that numerous fans of the last two Olympic champions even managed to argue a little among themselves.
