The youth welfare committee wants to secure the professional future of the district youth council’s education officer. He and another colleague are doing good and important work.
The youth welfare committee is satisfied with the work of the education officer at the district youth association, Andreas Kern, and the officer for administration and networking, Antonio Orlando. The committee voted in favor of continuing to finance the two 50 percent positions. As long as there is no vote to the contrary, the positions should remain permanent. The district council has to approve the whole thing at its next meeting, but that can be assumed.
The funding amount of 82,300 euros to be used for this will also be increased by two percent of the total amount every year from the 2024 financial year in order to compensate for future cost increases. These two part-time positions have existed in the district since 2017. The funding expires on December 31st of this year. Therefore, the youth welfare committee had to debate an extension – with a positive outcome for the job holders.
The Breisgau Hochschwarzwald District Youth Association (KJR) is a working group of youth associations and youth communities. The focus of the work is the promotion and further development of youth work in the district. The education officer and the officer for administration and networking have initiated many developments in recent years, according to the meeting template. The KJR regularly offers training and seminars for the training and further education of volunteers in the district. Training for the nationally recognized youth leader card (Juleica) is particularly important for small member associations. These have been taking place annually for five years. There is also an outdoor first aid course that has been offered for four years. According to the template, other training topics included: promoting young talent in voluntary work, General Data Protection Regulation, digital methods for voluntary youth work. A very collegial and mutually supportive work has also developed between the district youth group, the district youth welfare office and the representatives of district politics. The internal structures of the district youth group have become more stable and professional thanks to the two full-time staff. The necessary decisions could be made promptly through the interaction of the volunteer board and full-time employees. The first chairwoman is Jacqueline Muckenhirn. In addition, the flow of information and exchange with the member associations was intensified. The district youth association’s financial accounting has been optimized and digitized by the administration and networking officer. There is also close cooperation with the Freiburg City Youth Association and regular exchanges with the youth associations in South Baden and the Baden-Wrttemberg State Youth Association. Education officer Kern thanked the committee on behalf of the proposed job funding.
