The Eskebra store, which opened yesterday at the Camama roundabout, in the municipality of Talatona, in the Angolan capital, secured 20 direct jobs and several indirect jobs.
Speaking to the newspaper O PAÍS, the manager of the BB Eskebra project, Glória Bettencourt, said that she is pleased with the opening of the commercial chain’s second store, whose objective is to encourage national production.
Glória Bettencourt explained that her focus is on national products, as the country needs the economy to develop.
“The stores are located in accessible areas, because in this first phase we want to expand in the neighborhoods. The next store will be opened in Patriota, then we will move on to Talatona”, he guaranteed.
The person in charge revealed that the BB Eskebra network’s plan is to expand 250 stores in all provinces over the next five years, adding that Benguela will be the second province to benefit.
In turn, Teresa Araújo, one of the store’s employees, said that she was part of the group of unemployed young Angolans, but had an opportunity to change her life with the support of the Eskebra project.
“I am an employee at the Eskebra store in Vila de Viana, and due to my experience I was called to reinforce the service at the Camama store”, she explained.
The informal market trader, resident in Zango 5, Jacira André, arrived at 5 am to wait for the Camama store to open, in order to take advantage of discounts on some products.
“The prices are affordable, especially palm oil and sugar, because in the informal market the prices for the aforementioned products are very high”, he highlighted.
