Honda is giving the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports a semi-active suspension as standard from next season. There is also more torque from the parallel twin.
Like the Honda Africa Twin, the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports also receives an upgrade from Honda. A semi-active Showa suspension, which is now also available as an option for the 2024 Africa Twin, will be standard in Adventure Sports in the form of a Showa EERA suspension with shortened suspension travel. This increases the weight by around 5 kilograms to 243 kilograms ready to drive. The 21-inch front wheel (90/90-21) – even if it says otherwise on the official Honda website – gives way to a 19-inch version in dimensions 110/80-19. The changes result in a lower seat height. All adjustments are primarily intended to improve handling and suitability for travel. The torque of the 1,084 cc parallel twin increases to 112 Newton meters. Output remains unchanged at 102 hp at 7,500 rpm. The maximum torque is 6,250 rpm. The Euro 5+ emissions standard will now be met. Consumption is officially 4.9 liters per hundred kilometers.
Showa EERATM chassis
The electronically controlled Showa EERATM chassis is standard on the 2024 model. With this technology, the damping of the spring elements is adapted in real time to the road conditions, the load and the respective driving mode. The SOFT, MID, HARD and OFF-ROAD driving modes cover a wide range of applications. The additional USER option allows individual fine-tuning if required.
Refined DCT
According to the manufacturer, the optional DCT dual clutch transmission has been further refined. The software control of the DCT dual clutch was adapted with a view to improved torque development in order to further ensure starting behavior and improved shifting manners, especially when driving slowly in gears 1 + 2 (both of which had been refined for the 2022 model year).
19 inch front wheel
The 19 inch front wheel (previously 21 inch) has a tire measuring 110/80-19 (previously 90/90-21). This is intended to generate more grip and front wheel feedback as well as greater stability when driving on the road and when fully loaded. The seat cushion has been redesigned for more comfort, the seat height is lower at 835 or 855 mm. The suspension travel has also been reduced at the front and rear (to 210/200 mm), which is intended to promote more active driving behavior on the road and at the same time make it easier to reach the ground during stop & go maneuvers or when maneuvering. The previous version had spring travel of
230 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear, slightly more leggy.
Further equipment
Electronics with 6-axis sensors support driving pleasure and increase safety with five driving modes, cornering ABS and HSTC traction control. The equipment with dual LED headlights including daytime running lights, 6.5 inch TFT touchscreen, heated grips, cruise control, cornering lights, USB port and 12-volt on-board socket round off Bluetooth connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Rally-Paket
The package includes wide rally footpegs as well as an engine guard and a radiator grille cover.
Adventure-Package
A newly developed crash bar underlines the adventure look and also protects the fairing. It is made of 25 mm thick stainless steel tube and has an electrolytic polish that is protected against corrosion and easy to clean. At the same time it is used for mounting fog lights. These are now in a higher position. A 4.5 liter tank bag provides storage space, while side tank protectors protect paint from knee abrasion and provide additional support when riding off-road.
Urban-Package
Available in two versions – plastic or aluminum. A 58 liter plastic top case offers space for two full-face helmets and comes complete with a mounting plate, pillion backrest and an inner packing bag. The 42 liter aluminum top case also has a matching holding plate and an inner packing bag. A main stand allows for secure standing and makes it practical to remove the rear wheel when changing tires or maintaining the chain.
Travel-Package
Like the Urban package, the Travel package is available in plastic or aluminum. The plastic side cases have a volume of 40 liters on the left and 30 liters on the right and are provided with exclusive design stickers; one-size inner packing bags complete the scope of delivery. The aluminum side cases (37 liters left/33 liters right) come complete with a separate pannier rack system and inner packing bags. Wider comfort passenger footrests complete the package.
Other accessories
An optional low seat is available for the 2024 model year CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports, which reduces the seat height to 795 or 815 mm. The range is completed by a 38 liter top case, a set of black rubber side tank protectors and an SC-Project slip-on silencer, available in two colors: titanium or black.
