To support this project, the City of Lyon benefits from a budget of 800 million euros and the commitment of a municipal administration with nearly 8,500 agents present on a daily basis with the people of Lyon. .

The General Delegation for Culture, Heritage and Events contributes to making Lyon a creative and vibrant city through the action of excellent cultural institutions, support for all forms of artistic creation and the organization of numerous events.

It promotes the transmission of knowledge and cultures as close as possible to the inhabitants.

Finally, it works to preserve and promote our heritage in all its dimensions (archaeological, documentary, etc.).

With between 300 and 400 activities per year (shows, conferences, guided tours, practical workshops, mediation actions, etc.) including more than 150 performances, 200,000 to 300,000 spectators at the Auditorium and outside the walls , The AO – Auditorium-National Orchestra of Lyon is essentially a place for the production and diffusion of symphonic music, at the heart of which is the orchestra.

Its level of excellence makes it one of the very first European symphony orchestras. The quality of the 2,100-seat hall, improved over successive renovations, makes it possible to attract the best international artists, positioning the city in the circuit of large concert halls of the European ECHO network of which it is a member. The establishment has also developed an innovative mediation and cultural action policy.

The establishment’s overall budget amounts to 17 million in 2022. It employs 190 FTE staff including 104 permanent musicians. The AO is directly managed by the city of Lyon, certified and supported by the Ministry of Culture.
The overall budget of the establishment – operation and artistic production – amounts to 15M.

Within the Production department, the orchestra management’s mission is to organize and set up rehearsals and concerts in the different places where the orchestra performs.
She also takes care of organizing the work of the 104 permanent musicians.
