Review: Asus ROG Swift Pro PG248QP – A High-Frequency Gaming Monitor with Nvidia G-Sync Technology

Technology Nvidia G-Sync exists in three variants. The basic one is G-Sync Compatible, when the monitor supports VRR technology, but without a special Nvidia processor. G-Sync (no moniker) is already included in this processor for better performance, and if you want it with HDR, you need G-Sync Ultimate. New monitor Asus ROG Swift Pro PG248QP it belongs to the middle group, i.e. it already contains an expensive chip from Nvidia. After all, it is not surprising, it is a monitor for the most demanding gaming, especially e-sports. It is characterized by an extremely high frequency of 540 Hz and a very short response time of 0.2 ms (GTG). However, while DisplayPort offers an extremely wide range of frequencies from 1 to 540 Hz, HDMI is limited to 24 to 240 Hz.

However, it also has some concessions. This is because it is a small 24″ panel, moreover of the TN type. So it has weak viewing angles of 170°/160° and expect a small Full HD resolution (1920×1080 pixels). This is understandable, for e-sports, the highest possible speed and the shortest possible delays are important, and this cannot be easily achieved with high resolution anyway. Max. the brightness of the monitor is 400 nits (supports DisplayHDR 400), the contrast is 1000:1 and it is an 8-bit model with support for 16.7 million colors. It promises high color accuracy Delta E<2.

For gamers, there is GamePlus and Game Visual. As for inputs and outputs, we have two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones and a USB hub (2× USB-A 3.2 Gen1). The monitor consumes 21 W. As for positionability, it supports a tilt from -5° to +20°, it can be turned sideways by +/-30°, the height is adjustable within a range of 110 mm and, not surprisingly, the possibility of mounting it on the wall (VESA 100× 100mm). We don’t know the price yet.
