direct: The general index of the Amman Stock Exchange witnessed a decline at the end of trading on Tuesday, by 0.7 percent, to reach the level of 2441.06 points, losing 17.24 points from its levels in yesterday’s session, Monday.
Today, the index was affected by a decline in leading stocks. Jopetrol fell 2 percent, phosphate mines fell 0.36 percent, the Arab Bank fell 0.67 percent, and the three stocks combined exceeded the relative weight of the index by 28 percent.
The sectoral indices witnessed a collective decline, led by services, by 0.36 percent, affected by the decline of the leading Jopetrol, and the decline of International Hotels and Markets shares by 4 percent.
The financial sector index also declined by 0.58 percent, affected by the decline of the leading Arab Bank, and the Jordanian Insurance stock advanced over the decliners in the primary market by 7.14 percent.
Industry was the least sector to decline today by 0.38 percent, under pressure from leading phosphate mines, and the Arab Aluminum Manufacturing Company declined by 5.42 percent.
The decline in the industrial sector was limited by Al-Hayat stock being the winners in the first market today by 1.11 percent.
Today’s trading volume fell to 6.29 million shares, compared to 7.89 million shares in yesterday’s session, Monday, and trading value fell to 5.75 million dinars, compared to 5.91 million dinars in the previous session.
