Horticulture Teacher from Minnesota Breaks World Record for Heaviest Pumpkin – Oct 10, 2023 Update

Oct 10, 2023 at 10:38 AM Update: 33 minutes ago

A horticulture teacher from the US state of Minnesota has grown a pumpkin weighing more than 1,246 kilos. The man has broken the world record for the heaviest pumpkin ever.

The orange giant pumpkin is a gourd that is about the size of 2,100 basketballs combined. Travis Gienger spent $15,000 to tend to the enormous vegetable in his backyard. That paid off, because the second largest pumpkin weighed ‘only’ 21 kilos less.

By winning the fiftieth edition of the Pumpkin Weight World Championship, 43-year-old Gienger will receive $30,000. He wants to invest the money in growing an even bigger pumpkin.
