University of Texas Women’s Golf Takes Lead at Jackson T. Stephens Cup

DALLAS, Texas — The No. 7 University of Texas women’s golf vaulted up the leaderboard in round two to take a three-shot lead after 36 holes at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup on Monday.

The Longhorns were the only team to complete 36 holes as play was suspended due to darkness. No. 6 South Carolina (11-15 holes in round two), No. 2 Stanford (15-18 holes) and No. 2 Wake Forest (15-18 holes) are tied for second place at 13-under par.

The Jackson T. Stephens Cup features five of the top six teams in the Golfweek rankings.

The Longhorns made 14 birdies and an eagle on the first nine holes of round two to climb the leaderboard into the top position.

Freshman Lauren Kim shot a bogey free five-under-par 67 in round two and is in second place for the tournament at seven-under-par. Farah O’Keefe (-3) and Bohyun Park (-3) are also in the top-10 at T7 on the individual leaderboard. Bentley Cotton, who shot a second round 69 is T20 and Cindy Hsu is T29 on the leaderboard.

The Lineup

• Freshman Lauren Kim followed up her two-under-par 70 in round one with her best collegiate round to date in the second round with a five-under-par 67. Kim is currently T2 at seven-under-par.

• Freshman Farah O’Keefe shot rounds of 71-70 and is T7 on the individual leaderboard. O’Keefe made eagle on the par-5, 16th hole in round two of the tournament.

• Bohyun Park led the Longhorns in the first round with a four-under-par 68 and is T7 on the leaderboard.

• Bentley Cotton went three-under-par on her first nine holes of round two and shot a three-under-par 69 and is T20.

• Cindy Hsu made five birdies in the second round and carded a two-under-par 70. Hsu is 29 on the leaderboard.
