Peter Pannekoek, René van Meurs and the duo Yentl and De Boer are this year’s winners of the Poelifinario, the prizes for the best cabaret performances. The Neerlands Hoop encouragement prize went to the theater duo n00b. The ceremony was tonight in Theater Diligentia in The Hague.
Pannekoek won in the Engagement category with his show DNA. “Few comedians work as hard as Pannekoek on their performance and it shines through on all sides,” said the jury. “Big themes, original perspectives, daring conferences, diverse humor: he challenges himself with every performance and never takes the easy way. There is no shortage of sharpness, courage and well-thought-out phrases.”
Van Meurs won with 2636 in the Entertainment category. The jury praises him for his “balanced program”. “There is room for countless comic anecdotes that are recognizable among contemporaries, but also for the realization that fatherhood creates a turning point in life that should not be taken lightly.”
‘Sensual theater concert’
Met Loaches Yentl Schieman and Christine de Boer won in the Kleinkunst category. According to the jury, they “bring out the best in each other” with the program. In their first new performance since Magic In 2017 the duo offers “a sensual theater concert, in which the number of beautiful songs is so great that it is difficult to identify a favorite”.
n00b’s Isabelle Kafando and Laura Bakker “came, saw and overwhelmed the theaters and their audiences with a whirlwind of sketches,” according to the jury.
The cabaret prizes have been awarded since 2003. Previous winners include Marc-Marie Huijbregts, Theo Maassen, Claudia de Breij, Wim Helsen and Erik van Muiswinkel.
