WITSCH AND TURCOTTE
New judges
Both criminal judge positions at the Lahr District Court have been filled. The previous criminal judge Patrick Lehmann left Lahr on October 1st and is now working at the Offenburg district court. The previous criminal judge Anna Strudel took on another task internally on September 17th and is now in charge of a civil law department. Monika Turcotte has taken over Anna Strudel’s criminal judge department. She studied at the University of Cologne with a focus on criminology, juvenile crime and the penal system and passed the first state examination in law in 2017. She completed her legal preparatory service in the Freiburg regional court district and, after passing the second state law examination in 2019, entered the state’s higher judicial service. Before moving to Lahr, she worked at the Freiburg public prosecutor’s office. Patrick Lehmann’s successor is Hendrik Witsch. After finishing school, the Freiburg native studied at the Free University of Berlin. After passing the first state examination in law in 2016, he worked as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin with a focus on commercial, corporate and insurance law. He completed his legal preparatory service at the Berlin Chamber of Commerce. After passing the second state examination in law in 2021, Witsch began his career as a lawyer in an international commercial law firm. On October 1st he entered the higher judicial service and took up his first position at the district court.
