The Hamas movement is open to discussing a potential truce with Israel, Reuters reported. The agency referred to a traffic representative.
A representative of Hamas, Musa Abu Marzouk, in a conversation with Aljazeera, confirmed the change in the positions of the radical group. Asked if Hamas was ready to discuss a possible truce, he said it was open to “something like that” and “all political dialogues.”
He also said that Hamas had captured “dozens” of Israeli citizens with dual citizenship, including Russian and Chinese.
Earlier, Egypt sent a cease-fire proposal to the Palestinian group and Israel. Cairo offered to establish a truce until the prisoner exchange was completed.
According to the latest data, the number of Israelis killed since the start of hostilities has increased to 900, reports “Aaretz”. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports 687 dead in the Gaza Strip.
There is currently no official confirmation from Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened to destroy Hamas.
