Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) can produce the Yamaha MT-07 motorbike locally at the Karawang and Pulogadung factories. Unfortunately, the locally made MT-7 is currently intended for the export market, namely the European market. Meanwhile in Indonesia, the Yamaha MT-07 has not yet been officially sold by YIMM.
President Director & CEO of Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) Dyonisius Beti explained that YIMM has not yet sold the MT-07 motorbike in Indonesia, because it is still hampered by the luxury vehicle tax.
“The problem is, regulations in Indonesia require you to pay tax on 250 cc and 700 cc. So for example the value is 1,000, the tax on luxury goods is 95 percent. So 1,000 becomes 1,950, VAT 11 percent, then 5 percent,” said Dyon at YIMM Java West, Karawang (5/10/2023).

“So the price is 1,000, so how many thousand? Not to mention the BBN, that’s why the CBU price in Indonesia is more expensive than abroad. Because our taxes are very high for large motorbikes,” explained Dyon.
“(Not only imported ones), domestic production also has to be paid (tax). Yamaha Indonesia company Which complied (comply with) taxes, that’s why we are obliged to collect taxes,” said Dyon again.
For your information, the Yamaha MT-07 engine is specially assembled at the YIMM Karawang factory. After that, the machine was completely ‘stitched’ with the frame and body at the YIMM Pulogadung factory, and then exported to various countries in Europe. This motorbike has been exported to Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, with a total of 100 units.
In terms of features, this hyper naked style motorbike has dashing visuals with the use of LED projector lights, and is equipped with DRLs and LED turn signals. This motorbike is also equipped with a digital LED speedometer with a 5 inch TFT screen, and can be connected to smartphone.
Another advantage of the MT-07 is that this motorbike has control which is supported by a high and wide handle bar position to increase riding comfort. Then it is equipped with dual front disc brakes with a large diameter of 298 mm and Michelin Road 5 tires.
The MT-07’s powerful performance is supported by a 689 cc 2 cylinder engine, using technology crossplane (CP2), liquid cooled (Euro 5 standard). Known as the Master of Torque character, the maximum torque produced by the MT-07 engine is 67 Nm at 6,500 rpm, while the maximum power is 54 kW (72.4 hp) at 8,750 rpm.
