And at the pump?
Are we already feeling those higher prices at the pump? “There is always some delay,” says Johan Mattart, chairman of the federation of fuel traders Brafco. “That explains why we’re just about to see a pretty spectacular drop in gasoline prices tomorrow: when that price was calculated, the market was falling.”
But the more oil prices rise, the faster this will be passed on. “Assume that prices at the pump will rise again this week,” Mattart warns. “And the timing is of course not ideal for people who now have to order heating oil for the winter: the price is also quite high at the moment.”
