From the castle to the university location: dialogue between old and new
On the occasion of “40 Years of Hildesheim Cultural Studies”, the university society invited its members to an exclusive tour of the historic grounds of the Marienburg domain a week before the official ceremony.
The event was also the start of a new series of events organized by the support company. At regular intervals you will set out to look at science and research from different perspectives. At the opening event, the dialogue was held between old and new and between the historical castle complex and the study site. University building department head Thomas Hanold presented details of the castle complex on site and recalled unforgettable stories. In the theater, Prof. Dr. Stefan Krankenhagen takes a look at teaching and research in Hildesheim cultural studies. During the conversation in the auditorium, the honorary chairwoman Dr. Lore Auerbach also remembers the history of the university’s origins and the role of the Marienburg domain in this context.
The chairman of the university society, Heinz-Werner Ernst, emphasized the importance of the university society as a connection to the city and the people in both his welcome and his closing remarks. By working together, a science location gains in profile. This is shown again and again – for example in the development of the Hofcafé in the context of the cultural campus.
The next “University Society on Site” event is planned for the first quarter of 2020. The topic will be the cafeteria, among other things, as an impulse for the development of the main campus of the University of Hildesheim.
