At midnight on October 8, rescuers received a message that an apartment on the first floor was on fire in the agricultural town of Novaya Zarya on Mira Street.
As he writes BELTA with reference to the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Ministry, arriving rescuers found the burnt body of the apartment owner on the sofa in the room.
It is known that the man was registered with the social services center as a visually impaired person of the 2nd group; his neighbors described him positively.
It is reported that the neighbors were notified of the incident by an autonomous fire detector, which was installed in the pensioner’s home this year.
One of the versions under consideration is careless handling of fire when smoking by the owner of the apartment.
