PSV Records Eighth Consecutive Victory in the Eredivisie with 0-4 Win against Sparta Rotterdam

PSV recorded its eighth victory in a row in the Eredivisie on Sunday. The team of coach Peter Bosz won 0-4 at Sparta Rotterdam, partly thanks to two nice goals.

Luuk de Jong thought he would give PSV the lead a few minutes before half-time, but his goal was disallowed due to a foul after VAR intervention. Early in the second half, Malik Tillman opened the score for the Eindhoven team with a beautiful attack.

Johan Bakayoko doubled the lead after just under an hour of play with a beautiful long shot. Ten minutes before the end, Yorbe Vertessen made the decision and in the final phase De Jong used the rebound from a penalty, which was initially saved by the brand new Dutch international Nick Olij.

A damper on the celebrations for PSV was the retirement of Noa Lang. The attacker was replaced in the first half due to a thigh injury. As a result, he appears to have to miss the Dutch team’s upcoming international matches against France (October 13) and Greece (October 16).

Thanks to the victory, PSV remains the leader in the Eredivisie. The Brabanders have two points more than number two AZ, which won at Ajax (1-2) on Sunday. Sparta is number seven in the rankings.

De Jong’s goal was disallowed just before half-time

PSV started the match at Het Kasteel strongly and hit the crossbar twice in the opening phase. In the seventh minute, Lang shot against the aluminum and four minutes later Tillman headed against the crossbar.

For Lang, that was his last big chance of the match. The ten-time Dutch international grabbed his thigh ten minutes before half-time and made it clear to Bosz that he could not continue.

Just before half time, De Jong found the goal for PSV. The striker headed home, but his goal was canceled on the advice of the VAR due to a foul in the run-up to the goal.

Bakayoko scores the best goal of the match

Olij, who was called up for the Dutch team for the first time earlier this week, kept Sparta going in the first half, but was quickly passed after the break. Tillman gave the final push during a brilliant attack by PSV.

Eight minutes later, Bakayoko scored the best goal of the match. The Belgian curled the ball beautifully into the intersection from the edge of the sixteen-meter area. This broke Sparta’s resistance.

In the final phase, PSV increased the score even further. Vertessen took advantage of the rebound after Guus Til’s header was saved by Olij. Moments later, the ball hit the spot after a foul on Hirving Lozano and De Jong provided the final goal. His penalty was saved by Olij, but the rebound was a hit.
