Before the match, the guests made cautious plans and did not consider it likely that they would score eight again, as they did in the previous round against Tihany. The home team also made a cautious statement, but they definitely wanted to forget their fiasco of the previous week. So they could only aim for victory.
Dunaújváros Futsal – Progress II. 2-3 (2-1)
Dunaújváros Futsal: Cseresnyés – Ivacs, Fekete, Szili, Németh. Replacements: Sz. Tóth, Váradi, Puskás, Kuti, Vincze. Coach: Árpád Tóth.
The home fans were hoping for a good start, and they got it from their team. As befits real prestige matches, the parties fell to each other at high temperatures and in a peppery atmosphere. Both of them ran into the other’s half of the field and yelled at each other intent on scoring. We saw the first encouraging attempt in New City from Kuti, Gyimesi, the goalkeeper of the greens, stood the test. The rush of the first ten minutes brought joy to Dunaújváros Futsal, the enthusiastically starting Váradi took the lead in the 10th minute. His team continued to work hungry for goals, which is perhaps why the coach of Haladás András Sziffer asked for time. Onné, they experimented with even more dangerous counterattacks, what’s more: they cornered the home team in the last two minutes of the half. Tamás Fekete scored the next spectacular goal in the 19th minute. The atmosphere on the field became tense again, which led to a scuffle in front of the home goal, which Vincze ended by hitting Cseresnyés in the head with the ball, who took it as a bad name. Both received yellow cards. Hoping for a comfortable two-goal advantage before the break, it was enough for the home team to miss a flash in the overheated atmosphere for Ádám Sodics to make it beautiful in the confusion before the whistle.
We don’t know what the coaches said during the break, but maybe they should have demanded more accuracy in both dressing rooms. For sure, Haladás started the new game with great strength, they were able to squeeze their opponent in front of their goal. They shot a lot, but Cseresnyés parried with success. The teams started at a dangerous pace. Haladás asked for time in the 31st minute and from then on used the five-on-four game more and more confidently by playing its goalkeeper in the right-back position. With this, they were able to put the New City players under a lot of pressure. “If we don’t have enough trouble, we’ll make it our own!”, the home team could say, as they reached their sixth foul in the 37th minute, but Cseresnyés saved the free kick. The goalkeeper from Szombathely caught Ivacs’ bomb for a minute. Knizs, on the other hand, pranked Cseresnyés, 2-2 in the 39th minute! The situation became more and more acute, the stakes were already high. Tamás Németh’s bomb was a big promise, but the goalkeeper parried it as well. Dunaújváros Futsal won a corner, but the seemingly complicated execution was missed, and Haladás countered with Vatamaniuc-Bartha to win at the last moment.
Árpád Tóth, the coach of Dunaújváros Futsal, said with quite a bit of disappointment and sadness on his face: – For thirty-eight minutes, what happened on the field was what we wanted. The team played very well and we defended well. And in the last minute, we lost in an unroutine way. When there is so much left in the game, you don’t have to play the corner as usual, you don’t have to kick another goal, you have to keep the result. In addition, at 2-1, we missed about ten shots, that’s how our match went today.
– The condition?
– We were fine with that too. In the end, we made the wrong decision. A routine team stands up and, if necessary, even takes the corner back to the goal, “cheats” time, but keeps the ball. To be honest, we don’t know what we wanted to do in the end game. This solution is equally a mystery to me, since we are full of excellent routine players.
– What can be done after this?
– Now we’re deep, because you can’t get out that way. It was not in the air that this Haládas would leave today with a point, especially points. We managed to beat ourselves again. We stood up like this because we have three or four absentees due to injuries, but I think that the boys who entered the field made up for the absentees, but unfortunately it didn’t work out! We will stand up because we have a good team and we can’t afford more of this.
András Sziffer, the coach of Haladás VSE, evaluated him in an understandably cheerful mood.
– I can say that we can stand depending on how our adult team trains. I could see in the first row, those who are preparing for the NB I., that they had a half-hour gym session and an hour-long ball training in the morning before the match, after which they traveled down to Rácalmás and played. It was evident in their performance, as they were on top of the pitch for the first two goals. In the first half, Dunaújváros was much more dynamic, we were faster and they played much better. Since we had no other choice, we started to force the goalie to play in the field, and towards the end we brought in Balázs Vidák instead with the distinguishing mark for our 5:4 game. The home team couldn’t find an answer to that, and we created a lot of chances. At the same time, I would like to add that our opponent also did what he had to do, because Gyimesi also had plenty to defend. I think a draw would have been fairer, but of course we are happy with our victory, especially since we managed to turn the game around in the last minute.
– He behaved strangely. I was already thinking that this person was not told that this was a stake match! He instructed his team so calmly.
– I already experienced these young people, and I knew they had a lot of work all week. I thought that if I started saying big things to them now, or if I spoke harshly to them, they might take it upon themselves to slow them down. Rather, you have to trust them and find solutions to situations that don’t work out. That’s why in the end they felt that even if we didn’t play well, we could turn the game around. Perhaps now this was the secret of success, that they believed in themselves.
