Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse in October 2023: Viewing Locations and Safety Precautions

PINUSI.COM – The United States Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) revealed that a ring of fire solar eclipse will occur this month.

Unfortunately, the Ring of Fire solar eclipse in October 2023 will not be visible in Indonesia.

According to NASA, the Ring of Fire solar eclipse will occur on October 14, 2023, which can be observed in most areas of North, Central and South America.

However, the Ring of Fire can only be seen in an area 118 to 137 miles (190 to 220 kilometers) wide.

The path will pass through the western United States before heading to Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America, with a duration of 5 minutes and 17 seconds.

The following eight US states can see the ring of fire solar eclipse:

1. Southern Oregon;

2. Northeast California;

3. North Nevada;

4. Southern Utah;

5. Southwest Colorado;

6. Northeastern Arizona;

7. New Mexico; And

8. Texas.

Viewing the annular solar eclipse safely requires a sun protection filter. Because even if you only see a partial eclipse, the risk to your eyesight will remain the same.

If you want to look directly at the sky, you need special eclipse glasses. In fact, protection against sunlight is also necessary when looking through a camera, telescope or binoculars, because in addition to protecting the eyes, it also protects the equipment.

“During the Annular Eclipse, it is not safe to look directly at the sun without special eye protection designed for viewing the sun,” NASA said.
