TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Facing its first ranked opponent of the season, Virginia Tech football trails 22-10 at No. 5 Florida State on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The Seminoles (4-0, 2-0 ACC) started the game off strong, scoring on their first three possessions to take a 22-0 lead. But the Hokies got some momentum midway through the second quarter, getting a 40-yard run from quarterback Kyron Drones that set up kicker John Love to connect on a 29-yard field goal.

Tech (2-3, 1-0 ACC) would keep the momentum going, forcing a three-and-out thanks to a sack by defensive end C.J. McCray and then going 70 yards and scoring right before halftime with running back Bhayshul Tuten elevating in the air over the goal line for a five-yard touchdown to make it 22-10.

Florida State got the ball with 46 seconds left, but defensive tackle Norell Pollard sacked FSU quarterback Jordan Travis and the ‘Noles decided to let the clock keep going to head into halftime.

Defensively, safety Jalen Stroman leads the team with six tackles, while linebacker Alan Tisdale has five tackles and a TFL. The Hokies will receive the ball to start the second half.
