25 years ago, in 1997, the world was shaken by the trial in which Louise Woodward, an 18-year-old au pair from Great Britain who worked in Boston, USA, was accused and convicted of killing a baby. The prosecutor claimed that the baby died from being violently shaken. Now Louise is middle-aged, raising her daughter, and the neighbors say that she is a mother like any other. The British documentary mini-series, shot in 2022, examines the course of the trial and questions how fair the verdict was.
Series 1
On February 4, 1997, Louise Woodward calls an emergency number in Boston. She reports trying to revive 8-month-old Matthew Eapen. A few days later, she is arrested and charged with the baby’s murder. Together with the prosecution team, the doctors who treated Matthew and the detectives, the series tries to find out why they believe that Louise really shook Matthew Eapen to death.
