According to the state secretary, there is no generation that does not have the task of fighting for the independence and freedom of its country in its own life. “No one can spare him. No one will have such a comfortable period when the independence of Hungary is not in danger, when someone does not want to impose their will on Hungary. Either in an economic or ideological sense,” he said.
They will be the heroes of the nation that proudly remembers them and cherishes their memory
We hold commemorations because if we proudly remember these people, do not forget their memory, cherish the memory of heroes, then they will be heroes today and in the future. A nation that forgets its own heroes will have no heroes, the state secretary pointed out.
Bence Rétvári said in this regard: “Today we remember the executed people, the executed generals, the executed prime minister, because it may have seemed on October 6, 1849 that they were on the losing side, but today we see that they are the exemplary ones side, because we remember them today. Those who were on the other side of the gun and gave the order to fire on the Hungarians were on the dark side of history, the bad side. We condemn them today and reject what they did. At that moment, it seemed to the Hungarians, the Austrians, the Habsburgs that they were the ones who gave the order to fire, but a few generations later, Hungary became independent. Hungary became free. There is an independent Hungary here in the heart of Europe.”
Square of Forty-Eighters in Sződ
Among the recent developments in Sződ, the Square of the Forty-Eights was handed over on this day. The regional member of parliament congratulated Sződ for realizing this important and symbolic location, which symbolizes the unity of all Hungarians. He added that we Hungarians must believe in ourselves. If we believe in ourselves, we are capable of great results. In his speech, Mayor László Hertel emphasized that the square of the Forty-Eight was created from part of the funds received for tourism development, with the inauguration of which the heroes of the revolution and freedom struggle of 1848-49, the martyrs of Arad, who gave their blood and lives for Hungarian freedom and independence, were duly remembered. . The map of the historic Great Hungary can be seen in the mosaic paving of the village’s beautiful new square. A statue of Sándor Petőfi and a headstone were placed in the Square of the Forty-eight, as well as a creative board, with the help of which we can get to know the historical events and prominent personalities of the 1848-49 war of independence in a playful way, as well as the locations of the events.
