AMURANG, Manadoline.com – The South Minahasa Regency Government (Pemkab) (Minsel) through the Health Service (Dinkes) continues to provide outreach to residents about the dangers of the rabies virus.

This is because in the last few months reports of dog bites have increased.

“We remind the residents of Minsel to be aware of the dangers of the Rabies virus,” said the Head of the Minsel Health Office, Dr. Wiwin Opod, recently.

According to him, rabies is a deadly disease. Moreover, the death rate for humans who have suffered from this disease is 100 percent. Therefore, his party continues to remind him of the dangers of this virus. And his party is also preparing a special vaccine for residents who suffer from dog bites.

“The Health Department, through 17 Community Health Centers in South Mining, has a special vaccine for those who are bitten by dogs, especially if they are infected with rabies. “Therefore, residents must immediately report to the nearest health facility which is owned by the government,” he said again.

He also explained how the disease is transmitted other than getting a dog bite. This includes transmission through saliva and vomit from sufferers through wounds, mucous membranes of the eyes and oral glucose.

One way of early prevention if this happens is to wash the part that is suspected to be infected with clean running water. After that, report the matter to medical personnel for treatment. Wiwin Opod explained
