Carlos Alcaraz embodies the future of tennis and his future seems glorious but he still needs to be able to find a remedy to his biggest problem today: Novak Djokovic. In the absence of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, the Serbian found in the person of Carlitos a major rival and ultimately the only one worthy of being able to beat him in the Grand Slam.
Alcaraz was the only player this season to win against Djokovic in the Grand Slam, in the Wimbledon final.

The Djoker still won the 3 other Grand Slams of the season and stole the number one place from the nose of the Spaniard, who in view of his combativeness refuses to surrender and will try to fight to recover the throne that was stolen from him.
Carlitos admitted bluntly that his goal was to regain this famous place of world number one. If the probabilities are minimal they still exist and with victories in Shanghai, Paris, the ATP finals and a few other 250 tournaments the Spaniard could well finish as number one at the end of the year.

Asked about Novak Djokovic’s place in his thoughts, the Murcia native explained: “ Novak is constantly on my mind, during my training, during my matches he is present in my head I’m not going to lie about that.
I play with goals, and my goal is to finish as world number 1 by the end of the season, so it’s normal that I think about Novak. I have to play at my best level and fight for every point to give myself a chance.” Currently competing in Shanghai where he will face Grégoire Barrère in the first round, Alcaraz will have to perform a small miracle to overtake the fitter 36-year-old Serbian than ever.
