Reinout Oerlemans Buys Alfred Hitchcock’s Former Home in Bel Air

CelebritiesThe Dutch television maker Reinout Oerlemans (52) has purchased the former home of the legendary horror director Alfred Hitchcok. He managed to buy the luxurious mansion in Bel Air (Los Angeles) for around 8.8 million dollars.

Director Alfred Hitchock achieved worldwide fame with his exciting and groundbreaking horror films such as ‘Rear Window’ (1954), ‘Psycho’ (1960), The Birds (1963) and ‘Marnie’ (1964). Together with his wife and daughter, he bought a beautiful villa on the streets of the wealthy Bel Air neighborhood, where he lived until his death in 1980. He was 80 years old.

The impressive and historic building has now been sold to the Dutch television producer, presenter and director Reinout Oerlemans. As an actor, some will recognize them as Arnie from the popular soap ‘Good times, bad times’. Others mainly know him as the founder of the production house Eyeworks. He has been honorary consul for the Netherlands in Los Angeles since 2022.

The country house is inspired by the style of English country houses and designed by Carlton Burgess. Alfred Hitchcock, who was originally from Great Britain, purchased the house shortly after it was completed in 1942. Over the years, the house was renovated several times and brought up to modern standards. The house that Oerlemans can now call his home looks completely different than in 1942. After all, the largest renovation took place just after Hitchcock’s death.

Now the four-bedroom home measures just over 7,500 square feet and features amenities such as an outdoor fireplace, a swimming pool, a three-car garage and multiple storage areas on the extensive grounds. Inside we find a living room with fireplace, a dining kitchen with hand-painted tiles, a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom and two dressing rooms, four separate bathrooms and an impressive driveway with a fountain.
