Vice-PR promises more agricultural inputs to promote production in Kachiungo – Jornal OPaís

The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, assured, in the municipality of Katchiungo, province of Huambo, when presiding over the Provincial Forum, that the Executive will make more agricultural inputs available to women to promote national production, precisely thinking about , in the food security of Angolan families.

In the municipality of Katchiungo, the governor consulted rural women from the 11 municipalities that make up the province of Huambo in what was called the Provincial Forum of Rural Women. Among the various concerns, women raised issues related to the lack of agricultural inputs and title to their land, in addition to asking for jobs for their children.

The women of Huambo expressed their desire to produce reindeer and sweet potato crops on a large scale. To this end, they ask for Esperança da Costa to intervene to resolve the problem, and also request kits for traditional midwives. They complained about the non-urban way in which they are treated in health units.

“We need credit to increase our production and we also need the roads to be improved, to guarantee flow from the countryside to the city”, summarizes Fernanda Liaputi.

The Vice-President of the Republic says she has taken good note of the issues presented by the women and assures that they can count on her to overcome a considerable part of the problems. Esperança da Costa recognizes the existence of difficulties related to production, which is why it brought part of the fertilizers that women need to guarantee the promotion of production.

“And we are certain that, in this great country, with a large area of ​​arable land, we women will continue to make a great contribution to achieving food security”, he highlights, and challenges women in Huambo to invest heavily in food production .

According to the Executive Branch’s main assistant, rural women represent 80 percent of the workforce working in family farming in the country.

At the end of the meeting, the Vice-President delivered tools, fertilizers and basic food products to 200 women present at the Provincial Rural Women’s Forum, which the municipality of Katchiungo hosted.
